Columbus, Ohio---Ashley Pleiman (Fort Loramie/Fort Loramie, Ohio) made her season debut tonight to help lead the No. 5 Owens Community College women's volleyball team past Columbus State Community College 26-24, 25-18, 25-19.
Pleiman, who suffered an injury in the preseason, debuted with five kills and zero errors over eight attempts (.625). She also added a solo block.
Meanwhile, Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) continued to play well. The sophomore had a team-high 16 kills with a .387 hitting percentage, while adding three digs and a team-high three blocks (one solo). Erika Hartings (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) and Taylor Purcell (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) added six kills apiece.
Assisting Reigelsperger at the net was Christine Tylutki (Monroe/Monroe, Mich.), who also had three blocks (two solo).
Gyori had a team-high 23 digs. Tylutki (8) and Ally Mikesell (St. Henry/St. Henry, Ohio) with seven also chipped in.
Owens is now 31-5 overall and 13-0 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play. They will take a 17-match winning streak into tomorrow's action, which will including hosting Kalamazoo Valley Community College and No. 18 St. Clair County Community College at 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
Tomorrow's matches will raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Events will include a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. Owens players will wear special jerseys for the event, and they will be auctioned off.
Reigelsperger continues to inch closer to a few career milestones. She is 60 kills away from 1,000 in her career, as well as 22 digs and five blocks away from 500 digs and 300 blocks in her career.
With her six kills tonight, Hartings eclipsed 900 for her career. She now has 905.
Smith is 83 assists away from 1,500 in her career. She is also 14 digs away from 400.
Abigail Hesselschwardt (Otsego/Grand Rapids, Ohio) had five kills tonight to eclipse 100 in her freshman year. She now has 101.
