The 2025–2026 season for the Owens Community College men's basketball team has officially come to a close, but several Express players earned major recognition for their performances throughout the year. Freshmen guards and forwards stepped up in key roles, leading to postseason honors for two standout players.
Freshman point guard Maceo Harper was named to the First Team OCCAC All-Conference Team and also earned a title on the NJCAA Division III All-Region Team after a strong offensive season for the Express.
Harper appeared in 28 games, averaging 18.8 points per game, which led the team. He also contributed 4.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while playing nearly 30 minutes per contest. Harper was efficient from the field, shooting 46.2% overall and 39.3% from three-point range, making him one of Owens' most consistent scoring threats throughout the season.
His ability to score at multiple levels and lead the offense helped power the Express in several key conference matchups during the season.
Another major honor went to freshman center Gardayee Walker, who was named the OCCAC Defensive Player of the Year and also earned NJCAA Division III All-Region Team recognition.
Walker anchored the Express defense throughout the season while also making a strong impact offensively. In 29 games played, he averaged 11.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, while shooting an impressive 54.1% from the field. His presence in the paint, rebounding ability, and defensive intensity made him one of the top defensive players in the conference.
Walker also contributed 1.5 assists per game and consistently controlled the boards, often giving Owens second-chance opportunities on offense while limiting opponents on the defensive end.
Overall, his ability to be a powerful force on court, offensively and defensively, has helped the Express achieve higher momentum in the game.
With standout seasons from both Harper and Walker, the Express saw strong individual performances that highlighted the program's young talent. As freshmen earning conference and regional recognition, both players played key roles in the team's success and have set a strong foundation for the future of Owens men's basketball.
