Toledo, OH---The Express men's soccer team will get a huge offensive boost this fall with the return of their leading goal scorer from two seasons ago, Glenroy Miller.
After tallying 16 goals and five assists in 2010, Miller took a year off due to personal reasons.
"Glenroy's experience and maturity will provide invaluable leadership for our predominantly young squad," said Express men's soccer head coach Art Johnson. "His desire to lead, win, and succeed is unmatched on the team. He knows my thoughts, system of play, likes, and dislikes."
The Belleville, N.J. native was named the team's Offensive MVP and Second Team All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) in 2010. He will now team with last year's leading scorer, Novak Vuk Janicic (14 goals, 9 assists), to form a great offensive combination up front.
"This will be my sophomore year and I want it to be my best here," Miller said. "I am happy, physically and emotionally fit, healthy and ready to lead Owens to a championship. My disappointment from having missed all last season is gone, and it has been replaced by a revitalized vigor and enthusiasm for the competition ahead."
Thus, the two of them will bring 30 goals and 14 assists of experience to an Express men's soccer team looking to build upon a solid 13-8 season - the fourth most single season wins in men's soccer history at Owens.
"Glen is a very unselfish player, and his team oriented character enables him to be productive as a goal scorer, assist man or role player," Johnson said. "This should be a win-win proposition for all. Glen, and Novak are great compliments for each other."
Miller is looking forward to his tandem with Vuk Janicic.
"He has a strong upper body and is a great ball-handler," Miller said of Vuk Janicic. "He is an unselfish player who is far from his peak. I can't wait to partner with him on the field."
