Haley Gasser is this week's Student-Athlete Spotlight feature.
The sophomore, after missing nearly all of last season with an injury, worked her way back as a starter this year and scored the season's first goal in a 5-0 win over Lake Michigan College on Saturday.
In 2011, Gasser finished third on the team in scoring with seven goals and a school-record 15 assists. She had three games of two assists and won the team's Coaches Award as the Express finished 12-8.
Last year, Gasser had an assist in the team's season opening win over Cincinnati State. The following game, a 1-0 win over Schoolcraft College, she suffered a season-ending injury and was redshirted.
She has career totals of eight goals and 16 assists. She is the program's single season and career assist leader.
Gasser prepped at Northview High School in Sylvania, OH before coming to Owens. She will be a key contributor to the Express women's soccer team this year, which is off to a 2-0 start. Their next action is this Saturday on the road against Jackson Community College at 3 p.m.
