Lisa Urbanski is this week's Student-Athlete Spotlight
feature.
The sophomore defensive specialist continues to lead the Express
defensively and in the classroom.
Last week, she recorded 78 digs over three matches. In a three set
win over Lakeland Community College, Urbanski totaled 20 digs and
two aces. In a three-set loss to Columbus State Community College,
she had 23 digs and one ace, and in a four-set win over Jackson
Community College, Urbanski had 35 digs, five aces and one
kill.
This season, Urbanski has 249 digs, three kills, five assists and
19 aces. She is third among conference players in overall digs and
fourth in digs per set.
As a freshman, Urbanski was named First Team All-OCCAC, while
leading the team in digs (953), while adding 77 aces, 19 assists
and seven kills. She was named the OCCAC player of the week on
Sept. 16. Her dig total was the second-highest in a single season
behind Ashley Hill's 1,006 in 2004.
Off the court, Urbanski earned Academic All-OCCAC honors last year
with a 4.0 GPA.
Urbanski prepped at Notre Dame Academy in Toledo, OH before coming
to Owens.
The Express will travel to Cuyahoga Community College on Wednesday
for a 5 p.m. match.
