TOLEDO, Ohio --- The Owens Community College women's volleyball team is ranked second in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III poll.

The Express, the two-time defending NJCAA Division III national champion, previously opened the season at No. 1 on Aug. 16 and stayed at that spot two weeks later upon the release of the first regular season poll. They are 10-4 overall to open the campaign, including a 1-1 record in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC).

"After having not played for one and a half years, we are off to a good start," Owens head coach Sonny Lewis said. "We're 10-4 and continuing to get better. Our loss to Rock Valley dropped us to second, but we're looking to continue to improve as the season continues."

Rock Valley took over the top spot in large part due to a 3-1 win over Owens on Sept. 3.

The Express will be back in action this weekend with road matchups at Lakeland Community College on Friday at 6 p.m. and Clark State Community College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
