Columbus, OH---The No. 4 Owens Express volleyball team capped their regular season with a 22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-13 win over No. 24-ranked Columbus State Community College Friday night. In doing so, they captured the OCCAC title outright.
With their win, the Express finish the regular season 41-3 overall and 12-0 in the OCCAC. It is the team's seventh consecutive win, and their win total marks the fourth most wins in a season within the volleyball program.
Owens will now open Region XII District E tournament play with an opening round matchup against Mott Community College on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. at Grand Rapids Community College. Should the Express win that matchup, they will take on the winner of the Schoolcraft College vs St. Clair County C.C. matchup on Nov. 5 at 12 p.m. The championship will be held on Nov. 6. Two of the top four teams in the nation (No. 2 Oakland C.C. and No. 4 Owens) will be in the regional. The Express are the defending Region XII District E champions and defeated Oakland in the championship last year.
