14 Straight Wins And Counting For No. 5 Express

---The No. 5 Express volleyball team (19-1, 5-0 OCCAC) won three matches this weekend and stretched their winning streak to 14.

In the three match sweep, the Express only dropped one set. They have not lost a match since Aug. 30.

In a 25-15, 25-10, 23-25, 25-15 win over Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Saturday, Julia Haupricht (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) had a team-best 14 kills, while Brittany Egbert (Hopewell-Loudon/Fostoria, Ohio) had 12 and Erin Schatzle (Monroe/Monroe, Mich.) had 11.

Molly Hilfinger (Anthony Wayne/Whitehouse, Ohio) had a team leading 27 assists, while Schatzle had 26. Ellie Comes (Sylvania Southview/Toledo, Ohio) had a team leading four aces and 28 digs. Emily Crowell (Parkway/Rockford, Ohio) added two aces, nine kills and 10 digs, while Schatzle also had 10 digs. Egbert and Alyssa Meis (Genoa/Curtice, Ohio) each had two assisted blocks to lead the team.

In a 25-23, 25-16, 25-22 win over Kellogg Community College on Saturday, Egbert led in kills with 10, while Haupricht had eight. Hilfinger had a team-best 20 assists, while Schatzle had 17. Comes, as she has in every match this season, led Owens in digs with 22. Schatzle and Crowell were second with eight digs apiece. Haupricht added two solo blocks and three assisted blocks, while Crowell had three assisted blocks. Hilfinger and Egbert each had one ace.

On Friday, the Express rolled over OCCAC rival Columbus State Community College 25-21, 25-20, 26-24 in the SHAC in what was a battle for first place in the OCCAC standings.

Crowell continued a fine freshman campaign with a team leading 11 kills, eight digs and two assisted blocks. Haupricht had seven kills, while Schatzle and Egbert had five kills each. Schatzle led the team in assists with 19, while Hilfinger had 11.

Comes led the team in digs with 20, while Schatzle had 11. Haupricht added six digs, one solo block and five assisted blocks.

The Express will now have off until Wednesday when they will take on Lakeland Community College at home beginning at 6 p.m.
