No. 7 Express Rout Two Conference Foes In Weekend Sweep

Toledo, OH---The No. 7 Express volleyball team dominated Sinclair Community College on the road Saturday in a 25-13, 25-14, 25-11 win following a 25-13, 25-13, 25-9 throttling of Edison State on Friday evening at home.

Emily Crowell (Parkway/Rockford, Ohio) continued to improve during her freshman year with a team-best 10 kills against Sinclair, while Brittany Egbert (Hopewell-Loudon/Fostoria, Ohio) had eight kills. Erin Schatzle (Monroe/Monroe, Mich.) had a team-best 21 assists, while Molly Hilfinger (Anthony Wayne/Whitehouse, Ohio) had nine. Julia Haupricht (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) had four aces, while Schatzle had three and Hilfinger had two.

Ellie Comes (Sylvania Southview/Toledo, Ohio) had a team-best 15 digs. She has led the team in digs every match this season. Haupricht and Egbert each had three assisted blocks, while Crowell had two solo blocks and two assisted blocks.

Against Edison State, Egbert led the Express in kills with 10, while Crowell had six. Hilfinger led the team in assists with 16, while Schatzle had 14. Comes had 10 digs.

The two wins moved Owens to 15-1 overall (3-0 OCCAC). The Express play their next match against Cuyahoga Community College on the road Wednesday at 6 p.m. They will play at home on Friday against No. 21 Columbus State Community College at 6 p.m.
