Lindsay Werntz enters her first season as the head coach of the Express women's basketball program. With 24 years of experience across the collegiate landscape, Werntz arrives at Owens Community College with a deep appreciation for the game and a genuine passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court.

Prior to joing the Express, Werntz speant six seasons at the University of Denver, where she served as the associate head coach and offensive coordinator. Iin this role, she implemented a high-efficiency system that consistently placed the team amond the nation's leaders in both 3-point production and free-throw accuracy. Her "long ball elite" offensive philosophy earned the team multiple Top-30 national rankings for 3-pointers made and attempted. Beyond the work on the perimeter, she focused on developing an approach that saw the Pioneers consistently rank among the most effective teams in the NCAA at drawing fouls and capitalizing on free-throw opportunities. 

Werntz is also deeply committed to the coaching profession and professional development. She was selected to participate in both the WBCA Next Generation Institute program and the NCAA Coaches Academy, experences that have helped her cotinue to refine her leadership approach. She is also a frequent contributor to the coaching community, having served as a speaker at multiple WBCA conferences and as a mentor for coaches looking to grow in the industry. 

Her journey through college athletics has provided her with a well-rounded perspective both on and off the court. Before her tenure in Denver, Werntz spent eight seasons as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations at Tulane University, where she managed the behind-the-scenes logistics. She has also held coaching roles at Loyola University New Orleans, Hill College, University of Nevada, Midland College and Florida Gulf Coach University. Each of the stops offered unique opportunities to learn, mentor players and contribute to the growth of different programs. 

A former collegiate player at Purdue Fort Wayne, Werntz understands the dedication required of student-athletes. As she begins her tenure at Owens, Werntz is eager to focus on building a strong team culture, fostering player development and working hard alongside her players to represent the College with pride.
