After a strong 2024–25 campaign, the Owens Community College baseball team heads into the 2025–26 season with momentum and high expectations. The Express finished last year with a 30–18 overall record and went 12–8 in conference play, proving they could compete consistently throughout the season. With a winning culture already in place, Owens now looks to take the next step as a program and turn experience into continued success.
Offensively, the Express were productive and balanced, finishing the season with a .311 team batting average while scoring 360 runs in 48 games. Owens showed versatility at the plate, combining extra-base hitting with aggressive baserunning to keep pressure on opposing teams. That approach allowed the lineup to generate offense in multiple ways, rather than relying on one standout strength, making the Express a difficult team to defend.
On the defensive side, Owens showed resilience and discipline, holding opponents to a .255 batting average and finishing the season with a team ERA of 5.00. While the year included its share of challenges, the Express gained valuable experience in close games and high-leverage situations. As the 2025–26 season approaches, Owens will look to build off last year's performance and establish itself as a consistent contender within the conference.
Head coach John Parisho believes the team's identity this season will center on growth and work ethic. "I'm really excited about what this team is all about," Parisho said. "They are not afraid to put work in. We will be young in a lot of positions. Gaining that early experience will be monumental for our program as we navigate through the season. Our goal is to just be the best version of ourselves at the end of the year."
With several younger players expected to step into key roles, Owens will rely on early-season development as it aims to turn last year's success into sustained progress. If the Express can blend experience with emerging talent, they position themselves to remain a contender throughout the 2025–26 season.
