Prior to Owens: Rao was an Honorable Mention All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference and Second Team All-District selection at Whitmer, where he played for coach Gary O'Connor.

Personal: Nolan is the son of Frank and Heidi Rao. He has one sister, Mallory.
