Prior to Owens: Koerber was a two-sport athlete in baseball and football at Grosse Pointe North. He was a member of the All Grosse Pointe Times preseason team in 2011 under the tutelage of head coach Frank Sumbera.

Personal: Sean is the son of Dan and Tammy Koerber. His brother, Scott, played baseball at Michigan State University. Following that, he played six seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization (2004-09). He is an education transfer - multi age major at Owens.
