Owens Clinches Share of OCCAC Title

Toledo, OH---The No. 4 Owens Express volleyball team swept Sinclair Community College 25-11, 25-16, 25-13 Wednesday in the SHAC to clinch at least a share of the 10th Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) title in coach Sonny Lewis' 11-year tenure.

Additionally, Ellie Comes (Southview/Sylvania, Ohio) had 15 digs and surpassed Ashley Hill (2003-04) for most career digs in the Express volleyball program.

Brittany Egbert (Hopewell-Loudon/Fostoria, Ohio) led the Express with 14 kills, while Julia Haupricht (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) had 10 and Allison Seifker (Monroeville/Norwalk, Ohio) had seven. Erin Schatzle (Monroe/Monroe, Mich.) led the team in assists with 17, while Molly Hilfinger (Anthony Wayne/Whitehouse, Ohio) had 15. Hilfinger's two aces led the team.

The 15 digs from Comes led the team, while Egbert had 11 and Alyssa Pelish (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) had nine. Egbert also led the team in assisted blocks with four, while three others had two each. Whitney Hoodlebrink (Eastwood/Pemberville, Ohio) had two solo blocks to lead the team.

Owens (40-3 overall, 11-0 OCCAC) will have a chance to win the OCCAC title outright with a win over Columbus State this Friday at 6 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio. It will be the final regular season match for the Express before they open regional play.

With their 40th win, the Express reached the 40-win mark for the fifth time in the program's 18-year modern era.
