Prior to Owens: Redinger was a three-sport athlete at Fremont Ross (softball, volleyball and basketball), and helped lead her team to a Greater Buckeye Conference championship in softball her senior year. During the game that determined the championship, Redinger was playing at short when she dove for a ball and made the final out with the bases loaded, which she lists as her greatest sports thrill. For her play, she earned the GBC leadership award and Honorable Mention All-GBC during her softball career. She also played for the Huron Waves travel team where she won team MVP in the summer before her senior year. Academically, Redinger earned the Little Giant academic award and was a Little Giant honor roll member. She was coached by Mike Gilbert.
