South Bend Clay's Jones Signs With Express, Becomes Fourth Signee

South Bend, IN---Kenny Jones has signed a letter of intent to become the fourth member of the 2013-14 Express men's basketball freshmen class.

Jones, a 6'6" forward from South Bend (IN) Clay High School, averaged 11 points, eight rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.3 blocks per game as a senior. He was named Honorable Mention All-Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) following the season.

Some of his senior season highlights included 16 points and 14 rebounds in a 68-59 win over Riley on Jan. 25, 21 points in a 79-46 win over Niles on Dec. 11 and 13 points (seven in the fourth quarter) in a 70-60 win over Adams on Jan. 31.

Jones will be the third player from the state of Indiana to play for the Express since last season. He joins Joe Retic II (Fishers HS), who has since signed with NCAA D-I Liberty University, and Andy Bachman (North Side HS), who will be entering his sophomore season this coming year.

Jones joins Shaakir Lindsey (PG, Teaneck HS/Teaneck, NJ), Edmond "Junior" Early (PG, Thurgood Marshall HS/Dayton, OH) and Antoine Bedford (F, East English Village/Detroit, MI) as one of four members of next year's freshmen class.

The Express men's basketball team finished 26-10 last year and advanced all the way to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) D-II Final Four, before falling to eventual national champion Rend Lake. Prior to that tournament run, the Express captured the program's first district championship since 2002-03. 

Following the season, the Express men's basketball program saw three players move on to the NCAA D-I level. James Kelly went to the University of Miami (Fla.), Justin Edmonds went to Marshall University and Joe Retic II went to Liberty University. Additionally, Jay Marquette has signed with Lee University and Franklin Lindsey has signed with Indiana Tech University.
