Teaneck (NJ) Point Guard, Lindsey, Signs With The Express Men's Basketball Program

Teaneck, NJ---Shaakir Lindsey, an exciting 5'7" point guard out of New Jersey, has signed a letter of intent and will play for the Express men's basketball team next year.

Lindsey just finished an award-filled senior year at Teaneck High School, where he totaled 1,117 career points. As a senior, while leading Teaneck to a 27-4 record, he averaged 18.5 points and 8.2 assists per game and was named First Team All-Big North Conference (National Division), First Team All-Bergen County, First Team All-North Jersey and MSG Honorable Mention All-New Jersey.

While leading Teaneck to an 87-8 record in his career, Lindsey finished his career with the following honors overall: three-time First Team All-Big North Conference (National Division); two-time First Team All-Bergen County; one-time Second Team All-Bergen County and two-time First Team All-North Jersey.

Additionally, Lindsey was invited to the North/South and Bergen/Passaic All-Star Games, and he helped Teaneck to three straight Christmas Tournament Championships, three straight Big North Championships, three straight Bergen Jamboree Championships, three straight Group 3 State Sectional Championships, a 28-game win streak (2010-11), a North Jersey record 31-game win streak (2011-12) and a three-time North Jersey "Team of the Year" selection (2011-13).

Individually, he averaged 14.6 points and 8.7 assists as a junior and 8.7 points and 5.3 assists as a sophomore under the direction of head coach Jerome Smart.

Lindsey played AAU basketball for the N.Y. Guachos and N.J. Playaz of the prestigious Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (E.Y.B.L), which features top teams from across the country.

Notes

Lindsey becomes the third student-athlete to sign with the Express men's basketball program for next year. He joins Edmond "Junior" Early, a 6'1" point guard from Dayton (OH) Thurgood Marshall High School, and Antoine Bedford, a 6'6" forward from Detroit (MI) East English Village High School.

The Express men's basketball team finished 26-10 last year and advanced all the way to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) D-II Final Four, before falling to eventual national champion Rend Lake. Prior to that tournament run, the Express captured the program's first district championship since 2002-03. 

Following the season, the Express men's basketball program saw three players move on to the NCAA D-I level. James Kelly went to the University of Miami (Fla.), Justin Edmonds went to Marshall University and Joe Retic II went to Liberty University. Additionally, Jay Marquette has signed with Lee University and Franklin Lindsey has signed with Indiana Tech University.
