Toledo, OH---Brian Bayliss Jr. of Bishop Foley HS in Madison Heights, MI became the first pitcher of the 2012-13 Express baseball freshmen class after signing during a ceremony in the SHAC on Sunday.
Express head coach Del Young feels the righty can be an impact pitcher in his first year as he comes from one of the elite high school baseball programs in Michigan coached by Buster Sunde.
"We're looking forward to seeing what Brian can do in an Owens Express uniform," Young said.
Bayliss Jr. was an integral part of Bishop Foley's Division III state championship team as a junior. He even pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the state semifinal win over Muskegon Oakridge and should play a prominent role as a senior.
He received all-district and all-region honors for his play, and he will be playing for the 18u South Oakland A's baseball program this summer.
Bayliss Jr. joins Brandon Zelichowski and Ben Breymier as members of next year's class. Zelichowski is an IF/OF from Lakeview HS in Battle Creek, MI, while Breymier is a catcher from North Central HS in Indianapolis, IN.
