Toledo, OH --- Owens Community College student-athletes will trade their talents in volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball and golf for the pigskin as the Express host the Ability Center of Greater Toledo’s Toledo Crash as part of a wheelchair football game on Saturday, March 24.
The game will begin at 1:30 p.m. and take place in the College’s Student Health and Activities Center on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. The event is free is free and open to the public.
“Owens Community College’s Athletics Department is excited to collaborate with the Ability Center of Greater Toledo to provide this opportunity for their participants and our student-athletes,” said Rudy Yovich, Owens Director of Athletics. “It is important that our student-athletes are engaged in community outreach as well as being leaders in the classroom and on the athletic playing field. They are really looking forward to the football game."
The Ability Center of Greater Toledo is a Center for Independent Living serving Northwest Ohio. The organization was founded with the overall mission of assisting people with disabilities to live, work and socialize within a fully accessible community. Five core services provided by the Ability Center of Greater Toledo are information and referral, advocacy, independent living skills training, peer support and community living.
